The one thing you need to stop saying to improve your hiring is…
“It’s so hard to find good help these days.”
Even if this platitude appears to be true, it does little else besides allow you to play the victim.
Instead of blaming the market, the generation, or anything else external, go within.
Because there are organizations who are not saying this statement who are finding good people.
Does that mean it is easy for them? Maybe. Maybe not.
Either way, they are finding good people.
If they can, so can you.
So if you are struggling to find top talent to fill your positions, keep going.
If it is hard, then do it hard until you find an easier way.
This is one of those instances where you only have two options;
1 – Stop because it’s hard.
2- Keep going because it’s hard.
From there, you will find new approaches you may not have otherwise thought of.
You will have the opportunity to revamp old methods and develop new creative ones to find and hire the best.
But if you give up, or resign to doing things the way you always have, you will only make the cliche more true for you.
