Viewing this Aspect of Performance Makes all the Difference

Having a long-term view on performance is what separates successful leaders from those who struggle.

The reason is not that struggling leaders are not good at what they do.

The reason is because struggling leaders run out of energy faster from dealing performance issues.

On my U-turn Your Underperformers webinar I discussed this in depth as it relates to low-performers.

Successful leaders view performance management for their employees from a long-term perspective.

In other words, as a marathon, not a sprint.

They know it will take time, so operate at a consistent, steady pace with a proven process.

The leaders that struggle take a sprinters approach, which is not sustainable long-term.

They burn out rather than benefit from their performance management process.

If this sounds familiar, or you notice yourself expressing your exhaustions, it is time to pause.

Take a step back, change your pace and approach. Not only will you have more energy, you will be more effective in the process.
