How to take a counterintuitive approach with your, and your employees, work this summer. Most organizations slow down in the summer and a dramatic loss in productivity takes place.
In some positions and companies that can represent as much as a 20% decline. The summer months represent one quarter of the year. Taking it easy over those three months may contribute to the high-stress levels as school starts and the holidays follow. Rather than worry about closing out the year strong and under stress, use these tips to excel through the summer months propelling you toward a successful year-end.
1 – Take time to meet and set goals with your employees to keep them engaged. Set short and long term to prepare for Fall and Summer.
2 – Relax your dress code from one of professional to business casual where appropriate.
3 – Do something fun with the team once per week that involves traditional summer activities. A BBQ, a half day at the park, ice cream/frozen ice party or taco Tuesday’s.
You can incentivize production to qualify depending on your culture.
4 – Create a half-day/alternating Friday off option, WITH pay.
5 – Encourage team-based participation in summer volunteer programs correlated to your company mission and values.
