I remember what it was like being a new leader. I would be in a position for a couple years, get things up and running, then off to the next.
Solving problems, creating systems, training, each time with new challenges and growth potential.
One reason making it so great were the amazing leaders I had. They didn’t abandon me, instead they guided and mentored me.
Based on calls I get now to help new leaders , this seems to be the exception to the norm. Because these calls do not come before they are needed. They come much later when the person is struggling.
Here is why making that call before you need to is so important;
1 – You help your new leader by leading them first. They will look to you as an example, so be a great one.
2 – You save yourself time and energy with a specific plan for that person. With clear goals, expectations, and check-ins so you can make small corrections, faster.
3 – You encourage others to step in to a leadership role. They will see your process and trust it will work for them too.
Because, the best leaders in the world don’t create the most followers. They create the most leaders.
